One of the most annoying things about being at the airport and traveling is not having full, quick access to the internet.
Thankfully, Sprint users may have some added benefits coming their way (hopefully) before their next airport visit.
Sprint just signed a contract with airport internet provider Boingo to provide Sprint customers with access to its WiFi networks.
"As part of the new partnership, Sprint subscribers will be able to connect for free to wireless access points in about 35 airports across the country. According to the carrier, customers will automatically and securely connect to the Wi-Fi and will not be required to log in. Sprint promises that business users will be able to use their corporate VPNs reliably and securely," CNET reported.
The Sprint-Boingo partnership will bring the new WiFi hotspots to 35 different airports, and will most likely include O'Hare in Chicago, as well as JFK airport in New York. Sprint posted a list of the airports on an infographic.
"In addition to airport Wi-Fi, Sprint also launched Wi-Fi Connect, a consumer router that prioritizes the carrier's Wi-Fi calling feature above all other hotspot activity.
Available for free to qualified customers, the device works with Sprint phones that offer the carrier's Wi-Fi calling. Most of Sprint's Android handsets and recent iPhone models are capable of the enhanced voice and messaging services," according to CNET.
This deal will eliminate the need for Sprint customers to pay for Boingo-powered internet while in the airport. This is especially helpful, since Sprint's data coverage is limited.
