Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Familial relationships have always been prevalent themes in the "Star Wars" films. The connection between Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia laid the ground work for one of the most successful film franchises of all time while also creating a unique family dyanmic in the story. As such, it wouldn't be a surprise to see those themes continued in the new crop of "Star Wars" films coming our way.
Luke could have some very powerful offspring in this next film but it is even more likely that Han Solo's children are front and center in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
The only problem is that one of Han's kids may have turned to the Dark Side of the Force.
"I am circumstantially convinced that Han Solo is the father of Kylo Ren," Jason Ward, Editor-In-Chief of MakingStarWars.com wrote. Kylo Ren is the masked villain with the cross guard lightsaber seen in the teaser trailers. "Kylo has a personal vendetta with Han and actively drops what he is doing to seek him out in a way that seems very personal and not just 'evil guy orders' as usual...The connection between Han and Kylo is feeling deeper and deeper and more complicated as we move forward."
Is it possible that the Vader and Luke dynamic has been passed on to Han and Kylo? It would fit in with the tone of the "Star Wars" franchise and add some emotional weight to the story. It would also be a tragic twist to see one of the all time good guys lose his son to the Dark Side, as Luke lost his father.
What do you think, "Star Wars" fans? Is this something you would like to see play out on screen?
