Florida Woman and Flakka: Mother High on Synthetic Drug Abandons Her Baby, Police Say

A south Florida woman, high on Flakka, is charged with child neglect after abandoning her baby on Thursday. According to a probable cause affidavit, Boynton Beach police responded to a call about an infant left unattended. When they arrived, they found a "crying and shivering" baby with a "diaper full of feces and urine" in front of an office building that houses a drug treatment facility. The building was feet away from a Wal-Mart and railroad tracks.

According to the affidavit, as officers assessed the situation, a woman ran up screaming, "My baby!" The woman was taken in for questioning and identified as 20-year-old Qushanna Doby, the mother of the 1-year-old. Doby was unable to tell police where she was and how she got there.

Doby at one point admitted to being a regular user of Flakka and told police that the drug has caused her to hallucinations on previous occasions, according to the affidavit.

Doby is facing one count of child neglect and is held on $3,000 bond. According to the affidavit, the baby has been removed from Doby's custody and placed in foster care.
