‘Game of Thrones’ Season Five RUMORS: HBO Giving Series a Film Version?

Jon Snow may know nothing, but actor Kit Harington has a few nuggets of knowledge. Harington talked with IGN about the possibility of HBO giving "Game of Thrones" a feature length film.

"I think it's possible," he said. "I think it lends itself very well to the big screen, Thrones. They put it out on IMAG and apparently it worked surprisingly well. Whenever I've seen premieres it's been on a big cinema screen and it's felt like it belonged there.

"I can't tell you whether they'll ever do that; I can't tell you whether they'll ever want to do that. They wrote it as a TV show and David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] felt it lent itself very well to episodic story-telling. I don't know. If they want to throw millions and millions of dollars at a two-hour movie in the future I think it would almost have to be the climax of something, rather than a whole series squashed down into two hours. That wouldn't make a lot of sense."

"Game of Thrones" boasts a large audience of passionate fans partly due to the cinematic nature of the show. With exotic settings and expansive action, "Thrones" is the closest viewers will get to a blockbuster experience on the small screen. Even George R.R. Martin, whose book series "A Song of Ice and Fire" the show is based on, has been lobbying for a film to wrap up the show.

Will fans ever get that experience? Neither the Old Gods nor the New know that. Only the Grand Maesters at HBO have any idea if "Game of Thrones" will ever reach the silver screen.
