Pittsburgh Steelers RUMORS: Trade Up With Tennessee Titans To Top Of Second-Round Eyed?

According to the latest report, the Pittsburgh Steelers are among a group of teams currently negotiating a trade up with the Tennessee Titans to their spot, No. 33, at the top of the 2015 NFL Draft's second-round.

"Titans entertaining offers for top pick in 2nd round, No. 33. Top teams in round 2 all taking calls. One team interested in coming up: PITT," Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted mid-afternoon on Friday.

The 2015 NFL Draft's second and third-rounds are set to kick off Friday night at 7 p.m.

The Titans hold the first pick on Day 2, meaning any team below them targeting a specific player and concerned that player will go in the first several selections may look to trade with Tennessee in order to ensure they land them.

For the Steelers, round-one brought much-needed pass-rush help in the form of former Kentucky outside linebacker/defensive end Alvin "Bud" Dupree, but glaring holes remain, most notably at safety.

After Troy Polamalu announced his retirement and despite the addition of Mike Mitchell in free agency, the Steelers could use a serious injection of talent at the strong safety position.

Alabama's Landon Collins, widely viewed as a surefire first-round pick, managed to make it through the draft's initial 32 selections and could now, potentially, be the player the Steelers and GM Kevin Colbert are eyeing via a possible trade up.

Former fourth-round pick Shamarko Thomas is currently in line to start opposite Mitchell, but has only amassed 34 tackles and two forced fumbles in his short, two-year NFL career, and seems better suited to a back-up and special teams role.

It's entirely possible that Colbert will go back to the pass-rush well again as well - Nebraska linebacker/defensive end Randy Gregory remains available thanks to a failed drug test at the NFL rookie scouting combine and questions of his mental makeup.

If Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin believe his issues can be managed, he - or Collins - would be a great value pick at the top of round-two.
