She'll be back on our airwaves pretty soon, and she's aiming to smash the charts once again with a brand new single off of her upcoming album, "Prism," only this time she's doing it sans a giant gold truck!
The "California Gurls" singer had a huge, long gold truck drive through Los Angeles yesterday to announce the title and October 22 release date of "Prism," the follow-up to her platinum-selling sophomore album, "Teenage Dream" and its re-release, "Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection." Perry encouraged fans to snap photos of the crazy truck, and of course her friend Adam Lambert was up to the task, posting a good shot of it on Twitter and making several anticipatory postsh helping to promote the new album.
So what will be the first single from Perry's third album, and will it dominate the charts as her previous singles like "Teenage Dream" and "Firework" did?
According to Idolator, the title of Perry's new single is rumored to be called "Roar," possibly spelled "Rawr," and her management reportedly picked it carefully from a selection of songs. It's a fitting name, since her fragrance lines are called "Purr" and "Meow!," and she's often known by her nickname of "Kitty Purry."
Best friend and songwriter Bonnie McKee has helped Perry pen new tracks for "Prism," and revealed recently that the album has a more mature, "grown-up" sound for the normally bubbly pop star. Is this Perry's transition from kitty cat to ferocious lion? Let's hope so!
Two weeks ago, hit-maker Dr. Luke, who has worked many times with Perry, tweeted a tease for fans:
If it really is called "Roar," it definitely fits with the rumors that it begins with the letters "RO," and matches Dr. Luke's tweet to a tee. And since Perry is releasing new music around the same time as pop star Lady GaGa ("ARTPOP," which you can listen to snippets of here!), it's sure to be ferocious competition in music this fall!
