Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, Justin Timberlake played Rick "Sour" Vane, a full-blown, green-faced lime, for a Sauza 901 commercial.
It's a little-known fact that Timberlake is behind Sauza 901; he sold his small alcohol business 901, named after the area code of his Memphis, Tenn., hometown, to liquor giant Sauza, last year. This is his first major effort to let the public know that he is the co-owner and face of Sauza 901, Mashable reports.
In the beginning of the three-minute ad, the lime that is Timberlake, along with his lime friends, are living the good life because people demand them. They go to clubs and meet girls and friends, until one day, a new drink stepped on the scene: Sauza 901.
The product claims to be "triple distilled," claiming to be so smooth that limes are no longer necessary to cut the flavor of the drink, as Time reported.
People can't easily tell that the star lime is Timberlake unless they carefully listen to his voice and examine his face.
People started seeing the connection of the lime-man and Timberlake when the singer-actor also posted a video via Instagram, in which he apologizes for causing the limes trouble and for putting them out of business, so to speak.
The TV ad airs Tuesday but you can watch it below first.
