Tampa Bay Buccaneers RUMORS: Jameis Winston Recruiting La'el Collins?

New Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston seems quite ready to wield the clout that comes along with being the first-overall pick in the draft and the new face of a franchise.

Winston, having been selected and installed as the future at the signal-caller position just last Thursday night, is already hard at work ensuring the Bucs field an incredibly strong team next season and beyond.

How's he doing that, you ask?

Not through public relations stunts or photo ops - no, Winston is out on the recruiting trail, trying to bring former LSU offensive lineman and likely first-round pick in last week's draft were it not for a set of - presumably - unfortunate circumstances, La'el Collins, into the Bucs fold.

"Who's recruiting La'el Collins most aggressively? #Bucs QB Jameis Winston is right up there. Pushing hard for Collins to come to Tampa Bay," Rand Getlin of Yahoo! Sports reports.

While the Bucs were able to nab former Penn State offensive tackle Donovan Smith in the second-round and former Hobart guard Ali Marpet in the third, a first-round-worthy talent like Collins would likely have no probably carving out a role for himself along the formerly moribund Bucs offensive line.

Collins, of course, went undrafted despite his immense talent and potential because of an incident involving the shooting death of his former girlfriend and her unborn son.

Collins had flown to Chicago to attend the draft but was forced to return to Louisiana in order to speak with Baton Rouge police.

He has never been considered a suspect but the situation caused Collins to go undrafted.

Now, something of a post-draft bidding war has emerged for his services, with Winston, reportedly, doing his best to bring the mammoth tackle to Tampa.
