Hayley King, 22, a University of South Carolina student, is facing felony charges and possible jail time after getting caught on camera spitting and pouring chemicals into her roommates' food.
Police said they viewed the recordings and watched King opening the refrigerator, picking up several containers one by one, and spitting into them. She also poured the glass cleaner Windex into one of them, according to a police statement reported on by ABC News.
The roommates decided to put up hidden cameras in their off-campus apartment because they were scared of what King might do after they had a series of arguments. They have asked King to move out of their apartment, but she refused. The cause for their arguments was not disclosed.
One of the roommates said she ate out of one of the contaminated containers before she had the chance to check the video.
King is charged with unlawful, malicious tampering with human drug product or food. If convicted, King would face up to 20 years in prison on the Class C felony charge, according to Fox News.
King has not given any comments regarding the case. It also remains unknown if she has hired a lawyer to represent her.
The case is set for court in June.
