Philadelphia Eagles RUMORS: La'el Collins Being Recruited By Kelly; Bennie Logan, Former LSU Teammate, Aiding Effort?

The Philadelphia Eagles failed, for the second NFL draft in a row, to secure future talent along the offensive line.

Considering the Eagles have the oldest projected starting offensive line in the NFL, that's really not great news, especially if one of their Pro Bowl-caliber elder statesmen were to suffer some type of season or career-threatening injury.

To that end, Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has reportedly thrown the Eagles hat in the ring when it comes to embattled former LSU offensive tackle and one-time presumed first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, La'el Collins.

"According to multiple NFL sources, LSU offensive lineman La'el Collins will receive interest from seven teams," Jason Cole of Bleacher Report reported - the video has since been removed, so you can read the original excerpt at Bleeding Green Nation.

"He has already received interest from two initially, starting with Buffalo and the Miami Dolphins. However, those teams are going to wait until the investigation by Baton Rogue police is completed and to see if Collins is completely cleared in the murder of a former acquaintance and that acquaintance's baby girl.

"Now, those seven teams that have expressed interest, aside from Buffalo and Miami ... you have Detroit, St. Louis, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New Orleans. Those five in addition to the initial two, again, Miami and Buffalo."

A contingent of Dolphins players flew to Baton Rouge on Monday, presumably in order to attempt to woo Collins and Bills head coach Rex Ryan has already had a widely reported dinner with the talented tackle.

The rest of the teams have yet to show any confirmed interest beyond Cole's report.

That being said, current Eagles defensive tackle and former LSU Tiger Bennie Logan had an interesting response to a fan's question as to whether or not Collins was a name being considered by the Philly brain trust.

"Thought of the day, everything I do don't need to be publicized. Just know his name is alive and loud in Philly!," Logan tweeted.

Since the Eagles could certainly use Collins' talents - he'd likely start at guard right away and could possibly move out to tackle once Jason Peters calls it a career - and Cole reports they have interest, this certainly seems a situation that bears watching.

It's entirely possible that Kelly may be able to right the wrongs of the past two offensive line-less drafts in one fell swoop by signing Collins to a fat free agent contract.
