Devastated by the recent earthquake and far off from recovering any time soon, tour guides belonging to Trek Himalayan have reassessed what they could do to help fellow survivors get through the tough times.
The situation has called for the expert mountain guides and climbers to use their skills to deliver good to regions that the average climber can not get to, CNN reports.
Trek Himalayan is run by a native of the Mount Everest region, Pasang Sherpa. His tour guides, known simply as "sherpas," know the area better than anyone.
Pasang told CNN that what the most helpful thing they can do now is guide foreign and domestic donor organizations in reaching the harder to locate areas and distribute much-needed relief, preferably before rain season starts.
He notes that it will take time before the tourism industry is finally revived and the immediate need is to get past the uncertainty brought by the earthquake.
The earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25 has taken the lives of more than 7,500 and the death toll is still rising.
Nepal is receiving help from all over the world, even via social media. Facebook users, for instance, came up with $10 million of cash donations for the victims, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced.
We’ve seen our community come together in some amazing ways since the earthquake in Nepal. We activated Safety Check...
