There is still a lot of gender bias in Hollywood, which hasn't gone unnoticed by Anna Kendrick.
"There's [a film I'm considering] now where I have to wait for all the male roles to be cast before I can even become a part of the conversation," Kendrick explained to Glamour magazine in an interview. "Part of me gets that. [But] part of me is like, 'What the f--k? You have to cast for females based on who's cast as males?' To me, the only explanation is that there are so many f--king talented girls, and from a business standpoint it's easier to find women to match the men. I totally stand by the belief that there are 10 unbelievably talented women for every role."
The "Pitch Perfect" actress also pointed out in her interview that all the films nominated for a Best Picture Oscar this year had male leads.
This isn't the first time Kendrick commented publicly on gender bias in Hollywood. In April she tweeted saying "What the actuak f*ck @maebirdwing is talented as hell, and JUST proved she can carry a film. SMH," when she learned Mae Whitman didn't return to the role of the President's daughter.
It was rumored that she didn't get the role because "she wasn't good enough" to play the role of a woman who has a love interest with actor Liam Hemsworth.
Despite the gender bias in Hollywood, Kendrick is set to star as Beca once again in the upcoming sequel to "Pitch Perfect."
Kendrick said "there is a lot of pressure" for the "people whose job it is to make sure we make money," but she is excited to be taking on the new sequel film, "Pitch Perfect 2."
"Kay Cannon wrote the script knowing all of us now, and it's even better than the first one," revealed Kendrick. "And she wrote it after she'd just had a baby! I was like, 'You're some kind of unicorn.'"
