‘Teen Mom 2' Star Leah Messer Checks Into Rehab for Prescription Pill Addiction (REPORT)

It has been more than a year that "Teen Mom 2" star Leah Messer has been struggling with an addiction to prescription pills.

The mother of 3 is now reportedly seeking the help that she needs to overcome her dependence to the drugs.

Messer checked into rehab on May 3, and it wasn't an easy decision because she had to leave her girls behind.

"She'll be gone for a month," a source told In Touch. "She wants the girls (Aliannah and Aleeah, her five-year-old twins with ex-husband Corey Simms, and Adalynn, her two-year-old daughter with estranged husband Jeremy Calvert) to visit."

Earlier reports claimed that Messer would be seeking treatment for mental health issues, not drug addiction, but that is a lie, according to the insider.

It was inferred that Messer and her family went along with that story so the news of her drug use would not give her exes reason to file a case for full custody of her children, the Hollywood Gossip reported.

"She's still telling people she's going away for therapy," the insider explained. "They're hoping her denial doesn't stop her from making a fresh start."

In the wake of her split from Jeremy Calvert, the 23-year-old seemed to be making steps in the right direction in terms of her sobriety and well-being, and she was also tending to her children's needs all the time.

But, recent events have made Messer fall back into a destructive lifestyle.

Calvert unexpectedly filed for divorce, and shortly after, it was discovered that he had been cheating on her with Melissa Marie while he was still married.

Messer is trying to sort through her issues, and has chosen to attend a treatment facility close to home so that she can see her daughters more often.

The sixth season of "Teen Mom 2" will air this summer, and it is unclear if Messer's rehab stint will be included on the show.
