NFL RUMORS: Dallas Cowboys Sign La'el Collins?

The already super-wealthy seem to have gotten even richer, as two separate reports allege that the Dallas Cowboys have signed former LSU offensive lineman La'el Collins.

Charean Williams of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram was the first to report the signing and Ian Rapoport of NFL.com corroborated the report shortly thereafter.

According to Albert Breer of NFL.com, Collins' deal with the Cowboys is for three years and is worth approximately $1.7 million, fully guaranteed.

For the Cowboys, already considered to boast one of the best if not the outright best offensive line in the NFL, the addition of Collins only serves to make the unit even stronger.

Collins, 6-foot-4, 305-pounds, was widely viewed throughout the pre-draft process as a likely first-round pick, but due to a set of unfortunate circumstances surrounding the shooting death of his former girlfriend and her unborn child, Collins went undrafted.

He was recently revealed to not be the father of his ex-girlfriends child and was never considered to be a suspect.

Still, he fell down and entirely off draft boards and, reportedly, right into the waiting arms of the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones.

With Tyron Smith entrenched at left tackle and Travis Frederick and Zack Martin firmly in place at center and right guard, it seems Collins' likely position for the Cowboys will be either left guard or right tackle, with the plan potentially being for Collins to take over for Ronald Leary at left guard in 2015, then move to tackle in the future.

Current right tackle Doug Free recently resigned with the team for three more seasons and his $1.5 million salary for 2015 is fully guaranteed, but considering his age, 31, Collins could prove an eventual upgrade over Free on the right side.
