As people get older, they can become forgetful and sometimes do things that hurt themselves or others without remembering. But if they do it and they don't remember, how are you supposed to find out what happened?
That's the idea behind the new smart home system and app that tech startup Lively has developed, according to The Daily Mail. The Lively website says that "Lively gives family members insight when a loved one may need their help. And with Lively's new stylish and easy-to-use safety watch, 24/7 emergency response is just a single button push away. With its simple design, anyone can use it - and stay safer from falls and emergencies."
Lively operates through a system of sensors and a smart watch. First, the wearer must put on the watch, which will track the user's movement. Then a series of sensors are placed all around the house in integral locations, such as the fridge, the doors and the stairs. The sensors will then track the watch and its movement around the home. As the wearer performs the actions, the sensors will send the actions to a successive timeline in the Lively app, so that users can make sure that the wearer is still active. And if they aren't active for a set amount of time, then the watch will send an email to the designated account, alerting them to the inactivity, so that they can check in and make sure that the wearer is still safe and active.
The watch will also provide reminders for the wearer to keep them on a schedule and track their steps.
Users have described the system as effective, but not intrusive. It's also easy to set up and to track throughout the day.
Users can buy a Lively starter kit, which comes with one watch, four sensors and the free app for $49.99, as well as a $34.99 monthly subscription to Lively.
