"That Metal Show" will close out its 14th season on Saturday night with special guests Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth of Overkill and Frankie Banali of Quiet Riot, as well as musical guest Billy Sheehan, the bass virtuoso from The Winery Dogs and Mr. Big.
Elliott, who appears in a pre-taped interview, talks about Def Leppard's upcoming summer tour with Styx and Tesla, the band's upcoming cruise and the impact MTV had on the legendary British hard rock band's career. Banali and Ellsworth sit down with hosts Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine, with Banali discussing the success of the recent Quiet Riot documentary and the emotions he felt while compiling footage of the band's late singer Kevin Dubrow. Ellsworth, meanwhile, takes a lighter approach, revealing that Overkill has gotten better with age due to his vaping of Red Bull and gasoline and sharing a funny story about Airborne, the vitamin supplement.
Sheehan, one of the most highly acclaimed bassists in rock history, earns two standing ovations from the audience and tells the story of how he turned down an opportunity to join Van Halen - twice.
Recurring segments like "Put It On The Table," "The TMS Top 5," and "Stump The Trunk," in which fans try to outwit Trunk with hard rock and heavy metal music trivia, all make their usual appearances as well.
Season 14 of "TMS" has featured an impressive roster of guests, including Geddy Lee of Rush, Kirk Hammet of Metallica, Frank Bello, Charlie Benante and Scott Ian of Anthrax, Ace Frehley, Zakk Wylde and Kerry King of Slayer.
