FIFA 14 News: EA Signs Three-Year Deal With F.C. Barcelona

EA Sports became the Official Video Game Partner of F.C. Barcelona on Wednesday according to EA Sports.com. Electronic Arts signed a three-year deal with the storied soccer/football team.

“Joining a world class football club like Barcelona as an Official Club Partner is a fantastic opportunity for EA SPORTS and our fans,” said EA SPORTS’ senior vice president and group general manager Matt Bilbey. “We will create a deeper connection with their passionate, global fan base, and use our games as a platform to engage supporters all around the world for years to come.”

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to partner with EA SPORTS, one of the world's leading sports and entertainment brands, and to create a stronger relationship between our global fan bases,” Laurent Colette, Chief Marketing Officer at F.C. Barcelona said. “We encourage everyone to try out the game, get a feel for being under the skin of our players and emulating their actions on the pitch; without a doubt those who try it will enjoy it.”

EA Sports and FC Barcelona plan to do a few fun things with the partnership. Fans will be able to play "FIFA 14" at Camp Nou, the teams home pitch, during certain home matches. Nou will also become a featured stadium within the game.

F.C. Barcelon fans will be able to find out which of their favorite players is the best at “FIFA 14” when the team holds an inter-squad “FIFA 14” tournament.

The game will hit stores for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 4 on Oct. 1. It will release for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year.
