Google Startup Campus in Seoul is Launched; First Google Startup Campus in Asia

Google opened its first campus for startups and entrepreneurs in Asia on Friday, at Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea. Google has other campuses in London and Tel Aviv.

Google plans to host events for tech startups at the campus, and at the same time start a mentoring program for female entrepreneurs with children.

"Our goal with Campus Seoul is to create a space where entrepreneurs can thrive," Google Director of Global Entrepreneurship Mary Grove said on Google's official blog. "Where they can feel at home with the local community, yet have everything they need to build a global company."

Grove further said that as the only Google-backed startup campus in Asia, Campus Seoul would also help startups from overseas understand the South Korean market and other markets in the region.

Campus Seoul rents out its 2,000-square-meter (more than 6,500 square feet) space to startups and venture investors. It features an open plan office designed to promote collaboration between fledgling companies and a café that anyone can use after signing up, according to Yahoo News.

Startups can take advantage of consulting services from Google experts, and they will also have opportunities to exchange ideas with overseas firms based on other campuses, according to Korea Observer. Business-related lectures will also be made available.
