B.B. King is not in good health. His daughter, Karen Williams, along with his two other children, believe that the guitar legend's manager is taking advantage of the grave situation.
Williams' claims hit a big road block this week though, as a judge ruled that there is no evidence showing King's long-time business confidant Laverne Toney is taking advantage of him, according to BBC News.
"Mr. King has counsel. I don't have anything here that says he lacks capacity. He has some serious health issues. But he has counsel. If he feels like he's being taken advantage of, he has remedies," said tFamily Court Hearing Master Jon Norheim.
The exact claims, according to TMZ, are "elder abuse and burglary." The family accused Toney and her assistant of withholding medication from King, a diabetic, and taking "$20-30 million" from his bank account. TMZ also reported that Toney entered the courtroom with piles of evidence, including notes from doctors, explaining that King is "getting the best care." King's family, on the other hand, showed up "empty handed."
The guitarist was not present at the hearing, as he is currently in home-hospice care, according to BBC News.
King's family is not giving up on the abuse claims just yet. They are still raising concerns despite the ruling.
"We lost the battle, but we haven't lost the war," Williams said.
Shirley King, the oldest of his daughters, said her father would not approve of what is happening.
"I'm not too sure things are right. But my dad would never want this," she said.
