R.I.P. NBC's "Must-See TV."
For the first time in nearly 35 years, NBC has scheduled no comedies on its Thursday night lineup. Sitcoms like "The Cosby Show," "Seinfeld" and "Friends" long anchored the night through most of that time.
Instead, the network will flank its hit drama, "The Blacklist," on Thursday with the rebooted "Heroes Reborn" and the new Wesley Snipes series, "The Player."
The two comedies on the schedule will air on Fridays. The all-live episodes of "Undateable" will air at 8 p.m. and the new Mark-Paul Gosselaar sitcom, "People Are Talking," will run at 8:30 p.m.
"The Voice" will stay a two-night event on Mondays and Tuesdays, and NBC will keep its lineup of strong female crime-fighters intact on Wednesday.
The network also has at least three event series planned for this upcoming season. "The Wiz Live!" will be the next holiday musical production. "The Coat of Many Colors" is a TV movie inspired by Dolly Parton's life, and "The Reaper" is a mini-series based on the best-selling memoir by the first African-American sniper, Sgt. Nicholas Irving.
