Amanda Bynes is rumored to have been diagnosed with schizophrenia while on her 5150 police hold in California, but whatever the diagnosis may be, TMZ has learned how she's doing on a new combination of medication.
Fans of the troubled star and her family have long been hoping she would get the help she needs after a history of bizarre behavior, legal troubles, paparazzi confrontations and Twitter rants in which she calls everyone from President Obama to Drake "ugly" and claims to be in love with plastic surgery.
While it is unclear where TMZ got their information on Bynes's hospital care, they report hospital staff have given her a combination of medication, known as a cocktail, that so far seems to be helping. In the last three days, Bynes has reportedly stopped talking to herself and insulting people, shown no signs of violence and has become more polite, saying "please" and "thank you." Though the medications she is on take 7 to 10 days to fully kick in, she seems to be doing better so far.
Bynes's parents are currently applying for conservatorship over their 27-year old daughter, whom they believe may be a danger to herself and others and was "extremely paranoid about being watched, including at our residence." After getting caught setting a fire in a stranger's driveway, Bynes was placed on psychiatric hold by police officers who found her answers to their questions troubling.
"Amanda has profound issues with her body image and is obsessed with the idea that she (and others) are 'ugly,' her parents said several weeks ago. "She talks incessantly about cosmetic surgeries that she wants to have completed. We are concerned that the surgeries she wants to have are dangerous and detrimental to her health."
However, if Bynes does well on her new medication, her parents may repeal their application, as they feel it is essential for her to get long-term care and supervision.
