Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has had something of a tumultuous offseason, despite the fact that he hasn't really been in the public eye all that much.
From an allegedly career-threatening videotape which may or may not exist, to swapping out representation from Eugene Parker to the newly formed, Jay Z-led Roc Nation, to parting ways with his long-time advisor/mentor/security chief, David Wells, Bryant's name has been bandied about quite frequently in recent days, even if the man himself hasn't really been visible.
Bryant, hounded by TMZ as he left The Palm in Beverly Hills, answered a handful of questions during what pretty much amounted to his first public appearance this offseason. What did those questions center on, you ask?
Why, none other than Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, of course!
"Truthfully, if that could happen, I would love it," said Bryant, per David Helman of FOX Sports Southwest. "We're both from east Texas and we both believe in the same things - as much as he loves the game, I love the game the same way. I think it'd be something very special."
That's almost an understatement on Bryant's part - the addition of Peterson would make the Cowboys immediate Super Bowl contenders and favorites to emerge from a strong NFC.
As Bryant himself noted though, Peterson's current team isn't likely to let that happen.
"The Vikings not letting that happen, because if they did, the league would know what would happen," Bryant said.
TMZ also managed to coax Bryant into touching on the subject of "the catch" - his long reception in the Cowboys playoff to the Green Bay Packers which was ultimately ruled an incomplete pass and has since created a firestorm of confusion over what it is, exactly, that constitutes a completed pass in the NFL.
"I'm done with it - I'm away from the catch," he said. "I'm ready to move forward, I'm ready for this next year."
It's a year that almost assuredly won't involve Peterson suiting up in the silver and blue, but at least now we know Bryant's almost as giddy at the thought of the All Pro back in Dallas as the team's fans are.
