She may be facing 39 different criminal charges, but Teresa Giudice is getting no sympathy from fellow reality star Bethenny Frankel.
"I haven't paid that much attention," Frankel told US Weekly. "[But] do I feel sorry for them? No, I don't. Not so much, because it broke the law. You broke the law and you went on television. That's not really that smart.
"My first thought today was, 'Oh, if they weren't on reality TV, none of this would probably ever be exposed.' And it's just funny how certain people are [like a] moth to a flame," she said. "It's almost like -- not that you want to get caught -- but people who love to be in the spotlight often have a lot of skeletons in their closet. It's just an interesting thing."
Giudice and her husband Joe are facing charges for allegedly conspiring to defraud lenders, illegally obtaining loans and shielding assets during their 2009 bankruptcy case. They're charged with failing to report a large number of earnings including $110,000 they received during the filming of "Real Housewives of New Jersey" and $1 million Joe reportedly made over a period of four years.
The pair appeared in court on July 30 and were freed on $500,000 bail each.
If convicted of the most serious charges, the Giudices could face up to 30 years behind bars. Joe could even be deported, being that he was born in Italy and is not a legal citizen of the United States.
While Frankel may not feel sorry for Teresa and Joe, she does admit that she has sympathy for their children.
"I feel badly for them because they have kids," she said. "Their kids didn't sign up for this."
The couple are parents to Gia, 12, Gabriella, 10, Milania, 7, and 3-year-old Audriana.
The couple is set to appear in court again on Aug. 14.
