The trio of friendlies that each team will play in the tournament helps shake off any rust before the season begins. Rumors, however, seem to overshadow the tournament for Chelsea, LatinosPost reports.
David Luiz is the subject of a transfer rumor to Barcelona. He isn't focused on the talk and denied the rumor.
"My objective is to be happy and this is possible playing always in a team that controls the ball," Luiz said, via LatinosPost. "Barcelona is the team that has developed the best football in the last few years. I know Barca were interested in my services in the past but now I do not have any news."
Manchester United's Wayne Rooney is also involved in a transfer rumor. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho hasn't been shy about targeting Rooney, who's a backup striker for United.
"Any player that wants to go to the World Cup, if they are a second choice at their club, then they're in trouble, they're in trouble," Mourinho said a few weeks ago, via LatinosPost. "This is a crucial year for that and many national team coaches are worried because they want players to play regularly for their teams."
Chelsea is reportedly willing to offer nearly 40 million pounds for Rooney, but Manchester United has denied any intention of transferring the forward.
