Google updated its Google Fit app Wednesday to give fitness fanatics more tools to make sure they stay in shape.
Among the new features is a custom Android Wear watch face that shows the Google Fit activity ring that displays how many minutes of activity the user has done for their goal of the day, according to The Verge.
Users will now also be able to estimate the distance they've traveled and the amount of calories burned each day, which they can do by entering their height, weight, and gender in their Google Fit profile. The app will then make calculations based on the information it receives.
Google Fit now also lets users keep track of stored data so they can look back on their progress, VentureBeat reported. Fitness history will be grouped by days, weeks and months.
The health-tracking service made its debut last October, and the search giant has been making improvements to the app ever since.
The goal for the update is to help people improve their health by using information collected over time to figure out what they need to do to stay fit, VentureBeat reported.
"Now with a quick glance at your phone or watch, you'll be able to see how close you are to your goal and stay motivated," Google said.
Athletes can download the new version of Google Fit now from Google Play. Google's I/O 2015 conference is scheduled for later this month, which presents the possibility for more changes to Google Fit in the future.
