There is nothing but love between Nina Dobrev and her ex Ian Somerhalder.
The 26-year-old actress is setting the record straight on her relationship with her "Vampire Diaries" co-star, who just tied the knot with Nikki Reed last month. Dobrev, who announced in April that she will be leaving the show after six seasons, told E! News that her decision to leave the series has nothing to do her 2013 split from Somerhalder.
"I've said this before, that we didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship," Nina told Maria Menounos. "I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he's great and I care about him. And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now."
Dobrev and Somerhalder called it quits in May 2013 after a more than three-year relationship, but the two have been open about their friendship and support for one another.
Though she didn't attend Somerhalder's wedding to Reed, the actress said she is happy for the newlyweds and added that the "drama" surrounding the trio is something that the media made up.
"When I heard about the wedding, I thought it was beautiful. They look happy and I am happy and so I don't see why there should be a problem with that," she said. "The drama is in the media, it's not with us. But of course, we're on a teen drama show, everyone's going to look for drama. If there's no drama, there's nothing to write about. I just ignore it."
Dobrev recently opened up to Self Magazine about saying goodbye to her character Elena Gilbert on the "Vampire Diaries" and looking forward to her life post, which includes going on auditions again.
"I'm ready to put up that fight again. I'm excited to put up that fight," she said.
