Paul McCartney Says Oasis Should Reform, Adding That Gallagher Brothers Are 'Crazy' But 'Pretty Cool Guys'

Paul McCartney has some simple advice for the long-feuding Gallagher brothers of disbanded Britpop band Oasis: "Just get together and make some good music!"

Sir Paul's comments came in a teaser of a Q&A with Japanese fans posted on his official website.

McCartney was asked: "Do you think the Gallagher brothers will ever make up and do you have any advice for them?"

McCartney answered: "I don't know if they will ever make up. It would be good because I think everyone likes brothers to like each other - and make up. It's a pity because they are very good together. Like many brothers, they are crazy. But it would be nice if they got together. My advice to them? Just get together and make some good music! But they have got to want to do it. I think a lot of people would like them to do that. They are pretty cool guys!"

Liam and Noel Gallagher have been famously quarrelsome, with tensions reportedly reaching a breaking point during a backstage guitar-smashing altercation in Paris in 2009, according to the NME. Two concerts were cancelled, with a band statement declaring Oasis "does not exist anymore"; two hours later Noel released a statement, adding, "with some sadness and great relief...I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer," according to The Telegraph.

Last month, The Mirror reported that the sparring siblings had buried the hatchet and would reunite the band, but Noel quashed those hopes in an interview with Rolling Stone, saying, "There was a rumor last week that we've had a gentleman's agreement [to reform the band], but that rumor's come from his people. It's a 'source close to him,' and I'll tell you how close it is: She probably wakes up with him every morning. It's always left to me in an interview to let the kids down. People say, 'You're breaking these kids' hearts.' Well, what the f--k, man?"

The plot thickened just yesterday when The Sun reported that a source told it that an Oasis reunion is indeed the works - but it would not include Noel. Stay tuned...
