Apparently Universal Studios is trying to top itself—like really top itself—with the upcoming trilogy of Fast & Furious Movies. Deadline recently reported Denzel Washington was offered parts in “Fast & Furious 7” and the following movie.
The website’s report reads:
The studio is now looking for another big star to join the next film in a small role and then be a big part of the film that follows. Denzel Washington just turned down that opportunity, but they’ll undoubtedly get somebody important by the time. “The Conjuring” helmer James Wan starts shooting the seventh film.
The “Fast & Furious” team already shocked fans when Jason Statham appeared at the end of “Fast & Furious 6” after running Han off the road. We now know that he will appear in the seventh installment as Ian Shaw, Owen Shaw’s brother.
Therefore, it appears James Wan and team had something similar in mind with Denzel. However, it does seem a bit peculiar. While Washington is one of the best actors on the big screen and he plays a great villain, “Fast & Furious” doesn’t seem like his type of movie. It’s not at all surprising he turned it down.
Nevertheless, if movies 7, 8 and 9 are anything like the sixth installment fans are in for some great hits. Filming locations—Dubai and Tokyo—have already been announced for “Fast & Furious 7” and Jason Statham is expected to bring his usual tough-guy self to the movie.
“Fast & Furious 7” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2014.
