‘Star Wars Episode 7’ RUMORS: ‘The Force Awakens’ Green Planet Revealed?

Warning: Possible Spoilers for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"

Fans are curious if "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will take us to familiar locales in the famous galaxy far, far away and the answer may be yes.

Making Star Wars reports that the "green planet" from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" concept art is Yavin. Yavin was most famously featured in "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" when an epic space battle took place near one of its moons. Yavin is also rumored to be the home planet of Oscaar Isaac's character Poe Dameron.

"Different sources from different parts of the industries related to Star Wars: The Force Awakens are all saying this planet appears to be Yavin..." Making Star Wars Editor-in-Chief Jason Ward wrote. "I was initially hesitant because general if people see trees, they think Endor and sand must be Tatooine. Bust such a large amount of people are saying this and there is concept art depicting Yavin that I think it is time to assume it is Yavin and not another jungle planet. The most recent teaser was going to give us a good look at the planet with BB-8 in the back of Poe's X-wing but the edit that our sources saw wasn't final."

If this planet is indeed Yavin, what role will it play in the new film?

"The 'green planet' or Yavin IV is where Maz Kanata's [played by Lupita Nyong'o] pirates seem to be and apparently where Princess Leia's Resistance Base is stationed," Ward wrote. "This is why, when the emissary is killed, Leia is able to appear at the location rather quickly. I don't know if Maz and her pirates and the Resistance have an agreement to coexist on the world or if they just keep to themselves. It does seem interesting that the Resistance is stationed in ancient temples and the pirates are in a huge castle. Perhaps Yavin has a richer history than we once thought?"

What does this mean for Maz's pirates? How does it impact Leia's situation? We'll have to wait until December 18 to find out.
