Kesha and Eating Disorder: Singer Breaks Silence About How She Overcame Her Condition

Kesha has made her dramatic return to the spotlight, a year after she shocked fans all over the world by announcing that she would be checking herself into rehab to beat her eating disorder, and gave her first interview in the current issue of Vogue magazine.

The singer says that she has well and truly put her party girl days and glitzy eyeliner makeup days behind her and has now opted for a more natural and healthier look.

"I really wanted to make a change - be more raw and real. I wanted to be more confident in myself -embrace every inch of my body - not try to cover up with makeup," said the singer.

The 28-year-old admitted that she had to hit the brakes and regroup, realizing that criticisms and issues about her body had taken a toll, resulting in her getting the eating disorder.

"I talked to my therapist, and she said, 'I think it's time we take a moment to address this.' I called my mom one night and I told her, 'I need help.' I went to an eating-disorder specific rehab site where a nutritionist taught me that food is a positive thing for your body. I realized being healthy is the most important thing I can do for myself," Kesha said.

Now she tells the magazine that she is in a much better and happier place in life, appreciates food a lot more and does not pay attention to social media users, critics and bloggers.
