NFL NEWS: Former Steelers, Eagles Linebacker Adrian Robinson's Death Ruled Suicide

It seems that Adrian Robinson's death continues a disturbing trend for former NFL players.

According to a report from Michael Gehlken of UTSanDiego.com, the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's office revealed that Robinson committed suicide Saturday evening.

"Adrian Robinson was found to have hanged himself in Philadelphia, east of his hometown Harrisburg, Pa. No further details surrounding his death were available for release, office spokesman Jeff Moran said Tuesday."

Robinson leaves behind a young daughter.

"Adrian was a beloved father, son, brother, friend and teammate," his agency, Symmetry, said in a statement Sunday. "We ask that you please respect his family's privacy during this difficult time, and especially keep his daughter Avery Marie in your prayers. Thank you for all of your support and consideration."

Robisons joins a growing list of former NFL players to commit suicide - a list which includes Junior Seau, Dave Duerson, Andre Waters, Jovan Belcher and many more. The link between repeated brain injuries, CTE - Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy - and suicide rates continues to be explored.

Robinson was set to play for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League this year in his continued efforts to find his way back to the NFL.

Robinson, who played collegiate football at Temple University in Philadelphia, began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He stuck with the Steelers for one season, dressing for 12 games.

He was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013 in exchange for running back Felix Jones, but was waived a week later.

He spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers and Washington Redskins.

Brian McLaughlin, Robinson's agent, set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for Robinson's daughter, Avery Marie.
