Remember KFC's iconic white-haired chicken salesman and founder, Colonel Sanders?
Well, he's back! Sort of. The real Sanders passed away nearly 35 years ago, but "Saturday Night Live" alumnus Darrell Hammond will be playing the role in the fast food chains newest commercials airing May 25.
The company is ready to bring Colonel Sanders back for the first time in about 20 years just in time for their 75th anniversary. The LA Times reports that the chains newest ad shows Hammond dressed in the old-school white suit with a Southern drawl saying, "I'm back, America!"
A series of TV commercials will launch later this month. The commercials show Hammond walking through multiple scenarios with a bucket of chicken in his hand.
"In my line of work I've been able to do impressions of a lot of interesting people," Hammond said in a statement. "But Colonel Sanders? It's an honor to bring to life such an iconic figure...and it doesn't hurt that KFC is paying me in chicken."
The advertisements aren't the only changes the chain is making. Some new items like baked beans, lemonade and a new "Finger Lickin' Good sauce" will be released as well.
ABC News reports that KFC will also be redesigning its look. Restaurants will now have light fixtures that look like buckets of chicken and tons of Colonel Sanders quotes will be hung on the walls.
