Layout, Instagram's own photo collage creator, is now available on Android, according to TechCrunch. Layout allows users to combine multiple photos from their camera roll, or directly from the camera, to create a single composite image with a square ratio that is suitable for sharing on Instagram. Layout's iOS app launched last March.
Layout lets users customize their photo layouts with a number of pre-defined templates that can be edited. The app starts by asking users to select a few photos and then suggesting a variety of grids. These are based on the number of photos that were picked. Users can fix mirror images, replace them with other photos, and adjust borders. The results can then be saved and shared in the camera roll, Instagram, or other social apps.
Layout for Android is free, and will work with most Android devices running version 4.1 and higher. In addition to Layout, Instagram launched Structure, a new creative tool that is meant to bring out "textures and details" from photos, according to The Verge.
