PopcornTime – AKA 'Netflix for Pirates' – Adds Browser-compatible Version of Software

While pirating software and entertainment content may not be legal, some designers are making it a lot easier for people to access.

Meet PopcornTime – aka the "Netflix for Pirates." Popcorn Time has created an easy-to-use interface that can stream pirated films to computers, iOS/Android devices, televisions and other digital devices. PopcornTime's latest update added a web browser version of the app that lets users watch movies without downloading the PopcornTime program.

"With the new update," writes Digital Trends, "PopcornTime now lets users willing to play fast and lose with copyright law to run the application directly from an Internet browser instead of having to download and install the app on a device first. The movies don't have to be downloaded to a computer, either – the content remains on PopcornTime's servers, while users simply reap the rewards."

This update also made some significant changes to PopcornTime's interface. For example, the update fixed the search bar so that users can access films quickly instead of having to skim through long lists of titles.

While this is great for pirated-content users, it's still a dangerous endeavor. Digital Trends recommends installing a VPN in order to protect the computer from virus-laden content.
