Melissa McCarthy: Stuns in Own Design While Getting Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Emmy Award-winner and "Bridesmaids" funny girl Melissa McCarthy received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday.

The actress wore a floral purple dress that showed off her curves and slimmer waist perfectly.

"It was a little overwhelming," McCarthy admitted to CBS Los Angeles about the ceremony. "And I thought, 'Just try to stay in it so you remember it, don't get so overwhelmed,' because I'm like-I don't want to forget today. I don't want to forget my mom, my kids, anybody that I get to see here watch this happen. I want to remember every second of it.'"

McCarthy couldn't believe what was happening.

"It just seems really nuts," she told E! News. "It really seems like there's 50 cherries on top of the sundae."

In her acceptance speech, McCarthy thanked her parents for always believing in her comedy dreams.

"Every time I said, 'I'm going to quit college and do standup' my mom and dad would say, 'Great! Work hard at it and you could probably do it.' And they continued to say that for the 20 years it took me to actually do it steadily."

McCarthy received the 2,552nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre.

McCarthy's newest film, "Spy," hits theatres June 5!
