Star Trek's USS Enterprise Inspires Chinese Architect

While the USS Enterprise has lodged itself into our collective imagination, it also lodged itself into one man's building ideas.

Someone discovered a building in China that seems to be a copy of the Star Trek's USS Enterprise. At first look, and from the ground, the building looks pretty normal. But the view from the air makes it clear that this structure is more than it seems.

If that doesn't convince you, you need to check out Google Earth's picture of the building:

Mashable has discovered that Enterprise clone is currently occupied by Netdragon Websoft, a Chinese video game developer. And the building design isn't a mistake – the CEO asked for it.

"Company Chairman Liu DeJian is reportedly an uberTrekkie" reports Mashable, "[who is] licensing from CBS the rights to build an Enterprise replica. Construction began in 2008 and was finished in 2014; the project cost $160 million total."

This building is the only Star Trek licensed building in existence. Others have tried to make their own life-size replica of the Enterprise, but have had little success. Most notably, architects tried to build a life-size model of the Starship Enterprise, but Paramount never approved the construction.

While the shape of the office is cool enough on its own, that's not the only cool feature it contains. Mashable's inside source says "the building contains a replica display of a T-Rex dinosaur named Stan discovered in South Dakota in 1987, 30-foot metal slides that provide instant access to the ground floor from the third floor, and automatic sliding gates between each working area."
