Taylor Swift Fan Emily Beazley Dies of Cancer at Age 12

Emily Beazley, 12-year-old Taylor Swift superfan, has passed away after a four year battle with cancer.

This sad news comes just two weeks after she got to speak to her idol on the phone.

Emily's mother Nadia Beazley confirmed her death via Facebook early Thursday morning. "My beautiful Emily got to use her angel wings," Nadia wrote. "She fought hard to the end. Her last gift to me was passing peacefully."

Speaking to the "Shake it Off" singer was one of her final wishes. So many of her supporters made attempts to get Swift's attention, and her wish finally came true.

"The smile on my daughter [is one] I have not seen in a very, very long time," Nadia said. "I could cry."

Swift's manager even offered the family tickets and a chance to meet her at her concert in Detroit later this month.

Emily may have fought a tough battle, but it was Swift who inspired her to stay strong through it all. The Chicago native was an inspiration to the entire community.

"She was an amazing girl, very unselfish," Jason Canner, the oncologist who treated Emily during her battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, told The Chicago Tribune. "Even though she knew it was too late for her, she wanted people to continue to raise money for research. She wanted to help find a cure."

"The timing of all this-how she was able to reach the public's hearts, raise awareness and still live life was just incredible," Canner went on to say. "None of us have seen anything like this before."
