50 Cent Denies Domestic Violence Charge: Rap Artist Faces Five Years in Prison

Rap artist 50 Cent was scheduled for court on Monday after his ex-girlfriend, model Daphne Joy, accused him of domestic violence, the New York Daily News reports.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, faces up to five years in prison $46,000 worth of fines. He plead not guilty on all charges.

Joy told police that during an argument on June 23, Jackson began destroying her property at her Toluca Lake condominium before she eventually locked herself in her bedroom. He then allegedy broke down the door and kicked her, causing an injury. Officials estimated that there was $7,100 in damage done at her home, including the destruction of a television and chandeliers.

Jackson has been ordered to stay away from Joy. A protective order says he cannot contact Joy and must constantly stay within 100 yards of her. The judge also demanded that he turn in all of his guns.

"Regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, domestic violence is a serious crime, and alleged perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by this office," city attorney Mike Feuer stated.

"Curtis Jackson denies these allegations as made against him," Jackson's lawyer, Scott Leemon, said in a released statement last Thursday. "It is important to note, Mr. Jackson has not been arrested and there is no warrant outstanding for his arrest."

He also mentioned that he will be conducting his own investigation into the allegations made against his client.

According to Joy, her and Jackson were in a three-year relationship and have a child together. TMZ reported he's due back in court next month.

In 2008, Curtis' former girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins accused Jackson of starting a fire that destroyed her Long Island home. He was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Although he's currently in the news for charges of domestic violence and vandalism, Jackson was making headlines in May for helping cover funeral costs for D'aja Robinson, a teenage girl murdered in his hometown. She was shot on her way home from a Sweet 16.
