Josh Duggar: Oprah Cancelled Family's Appearance After Receiving Molestation Tip In 2006

Even Oprah knew Josh Duggar was a child molester.

The daytime talk show host invited the Duggar family to appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 2006 but cancelled the taping at the last minute when her production team received a tip that Josh had molested five young girls, according to TMZ.

The staff at Harpo Productions received an email on Dec. 7, 2006 at 6:30 a.m. that detailed Josh's involvement in child molestation. The email also revealed that his parents Jim Bob and Michelle had helped cover it up. The production company forwarded the email to a child abuse hotline.

The Duggars had already arrived in Chicago for the taping, but at 1:17 p.m. that same day, an Arkansas State Police officer called Michelle and told her she needed to bring Josh home immediately for an interview.

Oprah then cancelled their scheduled appearance and sent the family home.

Josh issued a statement on Thursday apologizing for his actions. He also resigned his position at the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. Jim Bob and Michelle also supported their oldest son in a separate statement.
