Are you a National Football League (NFL) Fan but can’t watch the games this coming season? Or just stuck in traffic and can’t be in front of your television during the show? Worry not for the NFL’s improved mobile app for Android, Blackberry, iOS, and Windows has been released.
NFL Mobile does the work recently featured in two apps, an NFL-built “cross carrier” application that gives highlight clips, scores and other stuffs and a Verizon-made application that provides subscribers the chance to watch live games.
Interestingly, by merging the two applications, the NFL is also taking more control over its digital experience. Even though Verizon retains control of NFL mobile rights, if you watch a live NFL game on your mobile now, you will be dealing openly with the league instead of going through Verizon.
With NFL mobile, no one will know about the whole game than you do.
Brian Rolapp, who used to manage digital for NFL Media, made this thing happen ever since he became the CEO. So keep an eye on the league for more fascinating digital developments that will surely follow.
Those who care about digital sports rights or those who intend to watch NFL on their Smartphones should keep in mind that: The app, as well as its features like news, scores, and video clips, is free. For a monthly fee of $5 for Verizon customers, you can watch the full games on your device, except those exclusive to CBS and Fox, and will grant you access to the NFL Network and RedZone scoreapalooza smorgasbord. And lastly, NFL mobile will also work on tablets, but has a different “set of rights”.
According to the description in Google Play, “Due to right restrictions, live video playback via HDMI cable is not supported. Location information may be required to enforce NFL Blackout restrictions of live games.”
