Veteran Stuntman Choya Shane Dies At Age 80

Choya Shane, the stuntman from the popular 1960s NBC show "The Virginian," has died.

Shane, 80, died May 8 in a Las Vegas rehabilitation center due to complications with his emphysema, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Shane comes from a family of stuntmen. His older brother, Dick Shane (who died last year), also worked with him on "The Virginian" - which was television's first 90-minute color Western series.

Together the daring brothers launched the International Stunt Actors Association, a stunt school based in Riverside, Calif.

Shane also worked as a stuntman in a series of films and TV shows including "Wild, Wild West."

Shane's son, Roy, who helped him found Spotlight Film Productions, a video and audio production company, remembered his father on the company's Facebook page Tuesday:

"My Dad was a one-of-a-kind extraordinary guy...loving, kind, caring...and tough as nails. Not any one stunt, whether jumping off a cliff, crashing a car, falling off a horse, or taking punches in a barroom brawl, he would stand up, grin and say, "Let's do it again." I miss him...and always will. His image will live on forever on the silver screen and in my heart."
