Southern Nevada was hit with a magnitude-5.4 earthquake that was felt 100 miles away in Las Vegas on Friday afternoon.
The quake, which struck at 11:47 a.m. PDT some 24 miles from the small town of Caliente, damaged a highway, the Associated Press reports.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the epicenter was only 12 miles but still affected a large part of Lincoln County.
Nevada Highway Patrol said the ramp that connects southbound U.S. 95 and Interstate 15 was shut down at 12:30 p.m. and has not announced when it will be open.
According to The Nevada Seismological Laboratory at the University of Nevada Reno, the state has been victim to multiple aftershocks, some as strong as magnitude 3.8.
