'Heroes Reborn' Brings Back Greg Grunberg's Matt Parkman

Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the 48-year-old actor, who played telepathic detective Matt Parkman on the original "Heroes" series, will be reprising his role in NBC's "Heroes Reborn" series.

The actor revealed that Grunberg will appear on the show for a guest star arc.

While NBC has yet to comment on the show's latest casting news, Grunberg hinted of his return in a Twitter post on Thursday.

"I miss playing this guy," Grunberg tweeted with a picture of his character on the original series.

The actor once expressed his interest in returning to the reboot project.

"If I can be a part of this, I would jump at the chance," Grunberg told interviewer Rick Yaeger last year. "None of us have been notified. We have no idea what's going on. They hinted that they might use some of the old characters to move story and plot. I think the fans or whoever was watching the show before, which was the world, really wants closure. I don't know how they would do this without using some of the main characters. I hope that they include me."

The 13-episode event will feature a new storyline, and Tim Kring will return as director for the new miniseries. Grunberg is the fourth actor from the original series to appear in the reboot.

The show has confirmed the return of Jack Coleman (Noah Bennet/the Horn-Rimmed Glasses), Masi Oka (Hiro Nakamura) and Jimmy Jean-Louis (The Haitian/Rene). In January, NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt announced that Zachary Levi signed on to star in NBC's "Heroes Reborn."

"We are happy to announce this morning that Zach Levi is joining the cast," Greenblatt told reporters at the 2015 Television Critics Association winter press tour. "We're still keeping Zach's role under wraps because everything about this show is shrouded in secrecy. More names will be announced in the coming months."

The reboot is of the original series of the superhero drama that ran from 2006 to 2010. The sci-fi drama series starred Zachary Quinto, Milo Ventimigilia, Hayden Panettiere and Ali Larter.
