Golden State improved to 2-0 in the series following Thursday's 99-98 win over Houston. The Warriors' defense held strong in the final seconds of regulation, doubling Rockets star James Harden and forcing him to lose the ball as time expired. Warriors guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were the two who doubled Harden, whom Curry said he was trying to prevent from playing hero ball.
"You knew he probably wasn't going to pass," Curry told the Associated Press. "At that point, it's just don't let him get a shot off and try to be the hero."
Curry finished with 33 points, making it three straight games with at least 30 points scored.
"You put a lot of hard work into your craft, and when you rely on that work, you kind of just are in the moment, and those shots, when you rise up to take them, it feels natural, it feels normal," Curry said. "I feel confident, and you just live with the results."
Harden almost recorded a triple-double yet again, finishing with 38 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds; and center Dwight Howard added 19 points and 17 rebounds.
Down two games, the Rockets know winning on Saturday is crucial.
"This is a must-win game for us," said veteran Jason Terry. "Must-win time. You have to love it. It's the Western Conference finals. What better place to be? Going home and the sense of urgency is going to be there from the tip."
