Just when you thought nothing could make a Mumford and Sons music video any better, the band goes and gets a cadre of funnymen to star in their latest music video. Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Will Forte and Ed Helms each star as a member of the award winning band for its latest music video "Hopeless Wanderer."
The video has all the trappings of a regular Mumford and Sons shoot, complete with folk instruments, open country and a barnyard setting. In fact, it takes about a minute into the five minute video before the big reveal that the band members have been replaced by the television funnymen.
Sudeikis poses as frontman Marcus Mumford, Forte plays bassist Ted Dwane, Bateman is the band's banjo player Winston Marshall and Helms plays an emotional Ben Lovett on piano.
The song comes off the band's Grammy-winning album "Babel" and almost plays like a self-aware parody of a Mumford and Sons music video. The comics have a pint, sing in a barn, smash their instruments in slow motion and perform a vaudevillian stage dance. The highlight of the video buzzing around online is the passionate kiss shared between Sudeikis and Forte during the video.
The indie folk band has gained a lot of traction for some of the hit songs off the album "Babel" including "I Will Wait," "Lover of the Light" and, of course, "Babel."
While the video carries a lot of comedic weight, the song itself remains untouched as the actors merely lip-sync over the band's folk rock melodies. They even go as far as to sport the same facial hair worn by each band member for the sake of the video.
