Two died including the gunman in a shooting incident in Walmart Supercenter in North Dakota early Tuesday.
The gunman was identified as Marcell Willis, 21-year-old active airman at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. He walked into Walmart and opened fire with a handgun. He shot two Walmart employees, wounding one and killing the other, before turning the gun on himself.
Grand Forks Police said the shooting occurred a few minutes after 1 a.m. with no link found yet between Willis and either the store or the employees.
"We've not been able to find any linkage to him and any of the victims. That's not to say that can't change," police Lt. Derik Zimmel said, according to RT News. "There's no apparent motive that jumps out at this time."
The workers were not yet identified while the injured person is being cared for in the hospital for a gunshot that is not life-threatening.
Willis was also given medical treatment at the scene and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Zimmel said.
No police officers fired a weapon at the scene and it was only Willis who had a gun. The handgun was recovered near Willis' body, Zimmel said according to Global news.
Walmart spokesman Brian Nick said that there were about 30 employees and 20 customers in the store at the time of the shooting. The company released a statement as reported by CBC News saying: "We are deeply saddened about this situation and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. We are still learning information about the events surrounding this tragedy and assisting law enforcement in their investigation."
