A Charlotte pastor and his wife are now mourning the loss of their newborn son, who was delivered via emergency C-section following a tragic car crash that took the life of the family's 2-year-old son.
Gentry and Hadley Eddings and their son Dobbs were in a caravan headed back to Charlotte Saturday when the vehicle Hadley and Dobbs were riding in was struck by a truck in Wilmington, according to The Blaze.
Gentry was reportedly in another car when the crash occurred.
Hadley, who was eight months pregnant at the time of the crash, survived the wreck, and was rushed to a hospital for an emergency C-section.
Only two days after the crash, the infant, Baby Reed, was declared dead.
David Chadwick, the senior pastor at Forest Hill Church where Gentry is also a pastor, delivered the tragic news via email Tuesday morning to church members.
"Gentry and Hadley are beloved by us all...He is a man of enormous integrity. They both possess a deep faith. But it will be challenged in the days and weeks to come like no other time."
Church representative Stacey Martin says the family is holding tight to their faith to get through this, 11 Alive reported.
"They don't understand why this is happening but I know they would want God to be glorified in all of this," she said.
Friends and loved ones set up a GoFundMe page for the family to cover medical expenses, and they're asking for everyone to do what they say the young couple would want - pray for them. More than $89,000 has been raised so far.
