She's recently finished her court-ordered treatment program at Cliffside in Malibu, Calif., and it looks like troubled star Lindsay Lohan is taking her sobriety seriously, opting out of the rumored lavish European vacation she was about to take and moving into an apartment in NYC, the Daily Mail reports, her younger sister Ali Lohan helping her out.
Counselors at Cliffside urged Lohan not to move back in with her mother Dina, whom they call an "enabler" and bad influence on the actress. It appears that Lindsay has taken their advice seriously, choosing to live on her own just one day after cancelling her flight to Europe. The star appears to have traded luxury for a six-story walk-up in Greenwich Village, little sister Ali helping her lug suitcase and belongings up the stairs to Lindsay's new home.
Lohan kept her outfit simple for movinf day, wearing sweatpants and a baggy gray sleeveless top and sunglasses, her sister similarly comfy-cute in a pair of torn cut-off jeans and a loose-fitting white tee.
Twenty-seven year old Lindsay appears ready to committ to her new life after her three months in rehab, where paparazzi snapped photos of the star looking happy and healthy while enjoying smoke breaks with her fellow in-patients. Although she has not gone into sober living, we're keeping our fingers crossed that se stays on a clean path and puts her health and sobriety first, which is likely much easier to do in Manhattan than in Hollywood.
"The goal is to have her sober coach live with her full time," a source told E! News, adding that the star takes her recovery "very seriously."
Although Lindsay originally put up a bit of a fight about going into treatment and denying she had any problems to begin with, she seems to have a new, determined attitude now, and fans have noted that the life is back in her eyes during her latest appearances on "Chelsea Lately."
Lindsay's decision to return to the Big Apple was prompted by none other than media mogul Oprah Winfrey, who encouraged the young star to not indulge in a European vacation post-rehab. Winfrey's interview with Lohan will air later this month, and the 59-year old star gave some details of the segment while appearing on "Good Morning America."
"At the end of the interview I said to her [Lindsay], "Look I have some concerns because I hear you're going to Europe and I just came from Europe.'" Winfrey said on the show. "Europe is the place to go if you want to feel really good and relaxed. It's very hard to go to Capri and not have a Bellini."
After the interview was filmed, their conversation continued. "So I was saying if I were you I would think about it. So she texted me and said, "Yes, I will think about it but look I've already paid for it,'" Winfrey explained. "And then I just heard this morning she's decided not to go. She's going to stay here and work on herself. I am so happy to hear and proud of her for that decision."
Winfrey's OWN network is filming an eight-part docu-series on Lindsay Lohan, which will follow the star's life post-rehab and document her attempts to rebuild her career and stay clean.
"I believe that she believes that she is now ready," Winfrey said. "She admitted that there had been other times when she was pretending to be ready and not quite sure and sometimes resentful that she was being, you know, put in the position where she had to go to rehab."
