Microsoft Says 'Halo 3: ODST' Remastered Release Date Wasn't Accurate, More Testing Needed

Gamers will be disappointed to hear that they won't be able to get their hands on the remastered version of "Halo 3: ODST" as early as initially believed.

The release date listed for the game on Xbox.com, which has since been determined to be a placeholder, was May 29 (this Friday), according to GamesRadar. The game was listed as 8.1GB in size and able to run at 1080p/60fps.

343 Industries said last December that it will make the ODST add-on available for free to anyone who played Halo: The Master Chief Collection before Dec. 19, 2014.

However, according to Microsoft, it looks like Xbox owners will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the game, GameSpot reported.

"A placeholder release date for the ODST campaign for Halo: The Master Chief Collection was inadvertently listed on the Xbox Store," Microsoft tweeted on Wednesday.

"We continue final testing and will make an official announcement once our release date is determined, and apologize for any confusion."

Bonnie Ross, head of 343 Industries, said last December that the company was making "Halo 3: ODST" for Xbox One available for free as gratitude to gamers for sticking around through the problems that the Master Chief Collection previously experienced, GameSpot reported.

"This has been a humbling experience and highlighting how we as a studio can- and need- to do better for Xbox fans around the world," Ross said. "We are so grateful to our fans who have stood by our side and we appreciate all of your patience as we worked through these issues."
