Tatum O'Neal, the youngest person to ever win an Oscar at the age of 10, recently opened up about her love life in a candid interview with PEOPLE.
"I like women," the now 51-year-old actress revealed. "I definitely have been dating mostly woman recently."
After being married to tennis star John McEnroe for eight years, and having three children together, this may come as a shock to some people. But O'Neal says she's "not one or the other" when it comes to her sexuality.
"I think women are the most amazing creatures on earth," she went on to say. "They're gentle, and also more intelligent than the men that I've met recently. I don't have a steady right now, but I look forward to it."
While O'Neal seems really happy now, she hasn't always had the easiest life.
The actress released a memoir in 2011 which revealed a lot about her past drug issues, and even some sexual actions that may make some sense now.
She wrote in the memoir about her father physically and emotionally abusing her and how she started smoking pot at the age of 12. This soon led to Quaaludes and cocaine addiction.
During that same year, O'Neal said her 18-year-old friend, actress Melanie Griffith, "dragged her into an opium-fueled orgy" and by the time she was 16, she had been molested by two men and two women.
When she later married McEnroe, the two didn't exactly end on the best terms. There was a very serious custody battle over their children, and O'Neal got hooked on heroin.
Fortunately, O'Neal is clean and in a good place now.
"I'm the most content I've ever been," she said. "I'm the proudest mother in the history of the world."
